Phuket will host ASEAN+3 and ASEAN + 6 meetings from 10 to 12 April. The Thai cabinet on Tuesday concluded that the Association of South East Asian Nations or ASEAN+3 and ASEAN+6 meetings for Heads of States will be held during April 10-12 in Phuket. The +3 members are China, Japan and South Korea, while the +6 includes the same but also Australia, India and New Zealand. Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva announced after the cabinet meeting, that they had come to an agreement on the schedule and location for the ASEAN+3 and ASEAN+6 meetings and have chosen Phuket as the meeting venue. The Prime Minister said Phuket is a suitable venue due to its facilities such as the international airport, and is convenient for transportation and accommodation which can provide full security for leaders and participants from 16 nations. Phuket was a host venue for the ASEAN Finance Ministers Meeting on 21-22 February and will host the ASEAN Education Ministers meeting during April 5-8th at the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket.
